It's through constant awareness. Firstly, knowing that you have these two faculties, mind and intellect, and secondly, being aware that your mind is like a naughty child and your intellect is like a loving parent.

So, when something happens outside, you have a choice: you can be reactive (mind) or you can PAUSE (intellect), see it as it is, then respond carefully and with consideration.
