So good, Meredith. I've read the Gita years ago as part of a yoga course, and looking back now - I wasn't ready to receive its message just yet. Back then I was still looking for an escape, or perfect version of life with no challenges. Now I understand it as you wrote: "It does not ask us to escape life, but to face life’s challenges with dignity and poise". Reading this, and the Vedanta Treatise, have inspired me to pick it back up. Thanks for sharing.
This is exactly what I needed to read today. Thank you Meredith, for these reminders of the great minds who have found the Gita’s teachings both a way of articulating profound eternal truths, and a call to never stop questioning.
There are so many more; these were just a few. i believe that all the great masters and thinkers of this world have studied Vedanta and the Gita, even if they don't admit it.
"a light when life feels uncertain" as you have written Meredith - in these uncertain times which create chaos & restlessness we are all affected from the energies circulating within and around our Planet, the destruction of & human suffering - the Gita provides the clarity and peace that we all need right now - i need to find my Books! I love the sentence of "following the Gita as a Guide, it is more than a book" - thankyou Meredith:_)
Thank you for sharing invaluable philosophies and lessons from the Gita. Brought back many memories while growing up Mom used to translate the shlokas and explain them. Loved reading it!
I love how you threaded this piece with powerful quotes from throughout history, Meredith. Like you, the Gita is a beloved companion and continues to be a teacher to me as I travel this path of life.
I feel like the Gita is more relevant now than ever...but looks like thats what someone of the greatest thinkers have been saying in their times as well.
Truly foundational teachings to fight the battle of being human.
This really resonated with me. The Gita has a unique way of offering clarity exactly when the mind feels restless, and I think your writing reflected that beautifully 💛
