First of all let me say how exciting it is that what you share has gained some attention! Your words are so valuable and secondly I loved reading more about your personal life...I hope we meet one day...

hi Rachel, you must’ve thought my last comment was a bit strange but I was answering: I hope we meet someday. The idea of doing a retreat together sounds appealing, don’t you think? Although it would be a long way for you to travel.

We are hoping to make it out west this year for a house sit in the spring... lets see...a retreat together sounds interesting for sure :). You are so sweet to suggest it...

Meredith's avatar

It’s something to think about.

Thank you, Rachel. i’ve done many retreats over the years. We have a beautiful retreat centre just five minutes away. I’d like to do retreats again when the time is right. Maybe you’d like to be part of that.

I smiled a little reading this, especially the image of the cabin shaking in the wind. There’s something honest about that detail - like peace isn’t this quiet, untouched thing, it’s something that holds even while the roof rattles a bit.

Your line about being “old enough to be invisible” stayed with me longer than I expected. I’ve been noticing lately how much of life gets spent trying to be seen, approved of, validated. And then here you are describing the opposite as a kind of freedom. That landed on me...

Also something comforting about imagining someone sitting on a windy hill in Australia, just writing plainly about what holds steady underneath all of it. It feels less like teaching and more like someone sharing what they’ve learned by actually living through the weather.

Love this reflection Alexandra 🤍

This would make a great welcome email, if you haven't updated it yet. Congrats on the flood of new readers! It's no anomaly, just a matter of time. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us🙏.

I guess it was just a matter of time. If you’re on this platform long enough something is bound to get through.

And yes, I’ve used the cabin on a hill, wind analogy on my about page and welcome emails. 🙏🤍

Meredith, I really enjoyed reading this. The image of the little cabin on the hill, with the winds rattling the roof, stayed with me. It feels like such an honest metaphor for life itself. There’s something quietly reassuring in the way you speak about steadiness, not by escaping the weather of the world, but by finding that deeper footing within.

And I have to say, the name The Elder Sage suits the spirit of what you’re sharing here. Lived wisdom, offered simply. I’m very glad that so many new readers are finding their way to your words.

Thank you so much for this heartfelt response Urvasi. Such a pleasure to read. You too have a beautiful voice. Trust it.

Yes, the cabin on the hill with the wind is a great analogy for life.

You know, it’s taken 30 years of dedication to get to this point in my life. I’m not here to impress. I’m here to share a message for anyone who wants to hear/read it. That’s all. You know it’s an important one. You have the same message.

I Love your "Practical Wisdom for living Calmly" Meredith:_) I feel sometimes we think that we need to create more to reach calmness, but it is in the "Simplicity of Life in How we Live" that provides the Calm we all Need. I also love that your writing reached so many Readers!

Thank you Amilia. i’m still yet to find a reader as good as and as loyal as you. You'd be hard to beat 🙏🤍

Hello Colin!

I'm new here as of yesterday and the winds brought me right to your doorstep.

I, too, would call myself an emerging elder sage.

Not because of the hours I've spent sitting in meditation (it's not that many)

Not because of the lessons I've shared with others (those have been plenty)

But because it feels aligned in this moment, and I've been saying, "I'm entering my wise sage era" and only a true wise sage would know when her era has arrived.

Thank you for preparing this space over a year ago so it could land us here together today.

I might be having a moment but if my life depended on it I would swear I read this post before???? If I did, I'm ok. IF I didn't I'm still ok. So I will accept what is here and reply as if this is the first time I have seen this. I am a fortunate one indeed. I don't have a book to sell nor a reputation to uphold. I have only me and my dog, Jack. He's a rescue and everyday I look at him and wonder how somebody could do to him what they did. I share from lived experience and what my heart guides me to write. I love writing. I believe Spirit moves through us and often through the written word. I am here dear Sage. You are probably not my elder though. I might be older. :) Thank you for putting here.

Well that's good. it means you one of the few people that has read the about page. Thank you for your comment.
