We spend an extraordinary amount of time trying to quieten the mind. But perhaps we have been going about it the wrong way. The mind is not meant to be silenced by force. It is meant to be understood and governed. And the faculty that can do this is the intellect, or Buddhi in Sanskrit.
Your mind constantly produces thoughts. It has preferences, emotions, and desires. That’s its nature. In direct contrast, the intellect can step back, discern, reason and question the mind, think — then take action.
Below are fifty short meditations — not simply to read, but to contemplate. The aim is to awaken the intellect and bring peace and order to the mind.
The moment you want nothing, you have everything.
You have the power to overcome any challenge simply by changing the way you think.
The intellect is a key that unlocks the prison of your mind — and opens the door to freedom.
Love is a universal feeling of Oneness with all living beings. Far removed from the personal, preferential affection that can so readily turn to hatred over a mere misunderstanding.
You shape your outer world according to your inner world of thoughts.
When it comes to actions and consequences, a wise person sees the end in the beginning.
Nothing and no one has any power over you. You are the only thinker in your mind. You always have a choice: You can create peace or turmoil. When you create peace in your mind, you will find peace in your life.
YOU, my love, are worth much more than you give yourself credit for.
Everything you’re looking for — peace, security, comfort and contentment — is within you. You don’t need to forage for it anywhere else.
Without remembering who we are, we create a false sense of who we are meant to be.
You haven’t wasted your life. Every step, misstep, pause or stride has carried you forward in the quiet march of your evolution. Life is not a single journey but a sacred continuation, from birth to birth, from self to Self.
Your thoughts, your goals, your visions and your ideals are the quiet promise of who you are becoming. Your greatest achievements today were once just a thought. And yet, through belief and consistent effort, you moved forward.
The law of life is: as you think, so you become. Therefore, keep striving for the highest. Conquer all doubt, and you will get there.
Don’t waste your time on the trivial things of life. Set your sights on the Highest, and pour your whole being into reaching it. Nothing else matters. Everything and everyone else will either align or fall away. But you have a clear path. Let nothing come in your way.
Spirituality is measured by the stability of your mind. When your mind remains calm and composed, even in the face of difficulty, you are truly walking the spiritual path.
Who you are today is the sum of all your past choices. Who you will be tomorrow will depend on what you choose today. Every thought, emotion, decision and action is a step towards your future self. You are not a victim of circumstance; you are the writer of your destiny. So instead of complaining or blaming others, look inward. Your life is not happening to you, it’s created through you. Moment to moment. Choose wisely.
Don’t expect anything from anyone, and you’ll never be disappointed.
Wherever you find yourself in life is precisely where you are meant to be. You create your life by your thoughts, so embrace your circumstances; don’t fight them. Understand that every experience is an opportunity to evolve and become the person you are meant to be.
You are not who you believe yourself to be. You are not this limited personality. You are your unlimited and eternal Self.
Love is allowing another to be exactly who they are, without expecting them to be any different.
Pigeons flock in numbers, but eagles fly alone. Pigeons cling to the crowd, seeking approval and reassurance. They fly low and follow without questioning where they’re going. But the eagle soars high, fearless and free. It does not need applause or validation; it trusts its wings, vision, and the boundless sky.
Everyone wants peace, but it cannot be gained by forcing the mind to be quiet. What is needed first is wisdom. Spiritual knowledge from the ancient texts is best studied, contemplated, and absorbed until it reshapes your way of thinking. Only then does the mind become truly quiet. Anything else offers only temporary relief.
Everyone has their own nature, just as New York, London, and Sydney have their own climate. But within that climate, the weather shifts. One day may be bright and sunny, another gloomy and stormy. The key is to distinguish between a person’s weather (emotions) and their climate (nature). Weather changes. Climate prevails.
You are not your emotions, just as the sky is not the weather. Storms may come, and winds may howl, but the sky remains unaffected. In the same way, you are not anger, sadness, or anxiety. Nor are others. So the next time fear rises in you, or your partner’s anger flares, step back. Be a witness. Watch how the emotion gathers like a cloud, lingers for a while, and then passes.
The choice is simple: master your mind, or remain its prisoner for life.
You cultivate inner stillness, not by adding rituals but by reducing your desires—not by doing less, but by wanting less.
Rare are the ones who speak so that silence feels fuller after their words. Even rarer are those who write, not to impress but to strike. When truth lands, it loosens something deep inside. And that’s when readers lean in, hungry for the next line.
A wise man once told me, when I was torn between pursuing a career in fashion design or devoting myself to philosophy: Choose the subtler of the two. His words struck me with uncommon clarity, and I followed them. I chose philosophy. Looking back, it was the greatest decision I ever made because what is subtle endures, shaping not just what you create, but who you become.
Disturbances aren’t outside; they’re in your dislikes.
Enough is never enough for the mind — one more like, one more follower, one more subscriber. Desire has no finish line. As long as you seek fulfilment outside, you’ll remain restless. Turn inward. Discover the Self within. Then will you know true contentment and peace.
To all those striving and pushing, take a moment to PAUSE and ask yourself: Who am I doing this for? If the answer is yourself, then dissatisfaction will follow like a shadow and never leave you. But if you’re doing it for a higher purpose, then you will find a strength that empowers, a lasting contentment, and a PEACE that nothing can disturb.
In life, we have a choice where we place our attention: on our small self that gets tangled in the world or our essential Self that remains peaceful, no matter what’s happening around us.
Life is a mirror reflecting your thoughts. Change your thoughts and the world changes. Thoughts may be invisible, but they are the most powerful force in the universe. We need to harness this force to bring about positive change.
Discernment is our greatest asset. It is the highest form of intellect — our capacity to evaluate and determine what we should pay attention to, and what we should ignore. It distinguishes the essential from the trivial and the real from the unreal. Discernment guides right action, prevents mistakes and leads to wisdom. Without it, the mind may be brilliant, yet foolish. With it, even modest knowledge becomes luminous and liberating.
You can repeat another’s words because they are wise, but unless you’ve transformed yourself to be those words, they remain empty. Focus not on writing wisdom, but on becoming it.
You cannot treat people like garbage and worship God at the same time.
Silence is stillness born of wisdom. It knows that life unfolds in perfect order, and that every action meets its consequence without our interference. There is no need to argue or prove anything. It trusts the law of nature, Karma, to do its work. And, as difficult as it may be to fathom, justice will be served.
Life is fleeting. Time slips away. All things change, except the One, ever-present, eternal Self — Divinity. That Self is the Reality. It is who you are. You are not who you believe yourself to be — this body, mind, emotions, and thoughts. Change is an illusion. So today, let’s try to give a little more of our attention to what never changes.
Peace is your original state — a state of natural calm and contentment. This is real, not the worries and anxieties that come from the past and future. Be still in the present, and be free.
The beauty of aging is that as you get older, you don’t need to prove yourself to anyone. You can simply be who you are. No one’s looking. No one’s judging. Everyone’s too busy living their own life, and you’re free to live yours. You don’t have to convince anyone of your worth or fight for approval. You can just be — peaceful, unbothered, and free.
Pour yourself into the work. Don’t be concerned about the outcome. Your actions alone are the promise of what your future will be.
Don’t chase a comfortable life that’s free from problems and stress. Instead, become the kind of person who can meet challenges with clarity and composure, and resolve them with effortless ease.
The person you’ll be tomorrow is being created by the thoughts you have today.
The more you know, the more you realise how much you don’t know. The less you know, the more you think you know. Humility expands the mind; arrogance shrinks it. What we know is but a drop; what we don’t know is an ocean. Stay humble.
True character isn’t born in comfort; it’s revealed in chaos. How you react in challenging situations reveals who you really are. Not when you’re getting what you want. But when someone pushes your buttons, or when things aren’t going your way — that’s when your true character shows.
Nature gives everything for free. A tree doesn’t charge for shade, the sun doesn’t charge for light, and the ocean doesn’t bill us for a swim. Only humans put a price on their work, believing it is so important. Maybe we need to be more like nature — give our time and ourselves freely without constantly calculating the cost.
It doesn’t matter how much inner work you’ve done, how many books you’ve read, or which religion you follow — if the ego remains, it’s like polishing a gold cage and calling it freedom.
Empty yourself of ego, and God will fill you up.
The greatest human error is believing you are incomplete, that you need things from the world to fill you up. The truth is, you are already full. The emptiness you feel is a mirage. It isn’t real.
Spirituality without discernment is a river without banks — it spreads everywhere, nourishes nothing, and soon becomes a swamp.
Who we think we are is such a powerful illusion.
